“No genetic engineering”?

The "no genetic engineering" seal is issued by the Lebensmittel ohne Gentechnik e.V. association. The aim is to support and promote the production of food with no genetic engineering and educate consumers. The "no genetic engineering" seal is registered as a trademark in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and has successfully established itself as guidance when buying food. The “no genetic engineering” seal ensures transparency and freedom of choice for consumers.

Strict regulations

Food with a "no genetic engineering" label or equivalent label means:

• Ban on the use of genetically modified organisms (GMO) or parts thereof.
• Ban on the use of vitamins, flavouring, enzymes and any other food additives that were produced using genetically modified micro-organisms.
• Animal feed without any genetically modified plants. Strictly defined changeover periods have to be complied with when change from conventional forms of farming/production to one with no genetic engineering.
