Why and where was food labelling introduced?

The scientific basis for the Nutri-Score was created by two scientists (Prof Hercberg and Prof Rayner). The system was finally successfully introduced by the French government in 2017 as voluntary food labelling. German consumer centres, Foodwatch and European consumer associations are in favour of the mandatory Nutri-Score in Germany and its expansion throughout Europe. The Nutri-Score has been permitted in Germany since 6 November 2020. It is used voluntarily by many manufacturers. In 2021, GOLDSTEIG also decided to label its specialities.
