Can I eat cheese during pregnancy?
You should be aware of the following when eating cheese during pregnancy: Not all cheese specialties are safe for mother and child. It is recommended that you avoid cheese made from raw milk and red smear cheese such as Limburger and cheese from open containers (feta, sheep's cheese, etc.) as a precautionary measure, as these may contain so-called listeria, which can cause listeriosis. Mozzarella, hard cheese, semi-hard cheese, mascarpone and ricotta, which are all produced and packaged by us from pasteurised cow's milk and under strict hygienic conditions, are harmless.
