The "Ohne Gentechnik" seal is awarded by the "Lebensmittel ohne Gentechnik e.V." association. The aim is to support and promote the production of food without genetic engineering and to educate consumers. The "Ohne Gentechnik" seal is registered as a trade mark in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and has successfully established itself as a guide when buying food. The "Ohne Gentechnik" seal ensures transparency and freedom of choice when consuming.

Strict guidelines

The following applies to foods labelled "Ohne Gentechnik" or with a corresponding label:

- a ban on the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or parts thereof.
- a ban on the use of vitamins, flavourings, enzymes and other food additives produced with the help of genetically modified microorganisms. 
- feeding without genetically modified plants. Strictly defined conversion periods must be observed when switching from conventional forms of husbandry/conventional production to one without genetic engineering.
